It is not just the T20 International series against the West Indies that’s exciting the residents of Jamshedpur, the fifth season of the ‘Under-19 Cricket Tournament’ for young upcoming cricketers organised by Gram Vikas Kendra Jamshedpur (GVKJ) under the aegis of Team CSR of Tata Motors Ltd., has enhanced the cricket fervour in the city. A total of 120 cricketers, divided in 8 teams, from Jamshedpur and the surrounding area will compete in a series of 7 knockout matches to be played in a 40 overs-a-side format.
The nine-day tournament from Feb 15-23, 2022, was inaugurated by Mr Vishal Badshah, Head – Jamshedpur Plant, Tata Motors Ltd in the presence of Mr Deepak Kumar, GM – ER, CSR and Skill Development, Tata Motors Jamshedpur as well as other senior officials from Tata Motors. The Inaugural match was played between Gram Vikas Kendra and Dimna Cricket Academy, Ghatshila.
Mr Vishal Badshah, Head – Jamshedpur Plant, Tata Motors Ltd said, “India is a country abounding with young cricket talent. In line with our Group heritage, we at Tata Motors, are focused on encouraging sports and promoting new talent. This cricket tournament is an effort to give an opportunity to young cricket aspirants in and around Jamshedpur to showcase and hone their skills.”
